The Forum’s Latest Single Takes Listeners “homesoon”

By Meg Keough

The Forum’s “homesoon” readies listeners for a year of new releases ahead.

“homesoon” by The Forum

The Forum’s first single of 2023, “homesoon”, shines a light on the patience needed to maintain the hope of reuniting again in a long-distance relationship. This vibrant track provides an outlook of optimism in hopes that “those miles won’t seem so far” for those struggling to maintain strength while away from a loved one.

The story of The Forum’s “homesoon” could be the anthem of a coming-of-age film in which young lovers, separated by distance, are almost home to each other. The beginning plays as if the partners are running, with feet pushing into the pavement and working out the frustrations of being deprived of their other half. As the chorus hits, they run into the arms of the person they missed and feel at home again. Going through the motions of a long-distance relationship, “homesoon” simulates the hardship of keeping a brighter outlook of a future together that clashes with the present reality of time and space against their side.

Though the themes present a struggle of learning how to navigate heartbreaking distance, there is a refreshing quality to the song’s tune. The mesh of the soft clash of a hi-hat and infectious guitar hooks creates a glittery sound that accentuates the smooth vocals. The steady beat of the drums grounds the bursting synth, which sounds like blowing bubbles out of a wand. The dynamism present in the song eludes giddiness fueled by a central focus on the anticipation of reunion.

Having been in the works since early 2022, this alternative rock track is the first single of a full year of releases coming in 2023. Through the artistry of the Florida-based indie rock band in collaboration with mixing and mastering engineer Josh Cobb and producer Trenton Ropp, listeners won’t have to “wait up now” for The Forum’s anthem “homesoon”.

“homesoon” is available on all major streaming services.
